It could be from Ragamuffin Day, a precursor to Halloween that was held on Thanksgiving, where kids wore costumes and went door-to-door. And the middle kid could be Peter pan. I guess in the depths of the Great Depression the world was a grim, dark, and fucking scary place. One of those looks like Howdy Doo Dee. And the two racist ones could probably be framed as cultural references.

They are made characters. But they are to be diverse, not just with personalitys but looks too and that includes the body. People always talk about being represented in games and on TV and if people with large breasts can't be showen on something without being independently called fanservice or sexualizing them, its wrong.  Oh. Well my wife's district (I'm mid credential) doesn't have people write out lesson plans. They just kind of say go. So just thinking and going, "Hmmm... I think I'll try this tomorrow." is totally normal and actually encouraged. They very much have a culture of I'll see your lesson; you don't need to write it out.We don't require our teachers to write out lesson plans per say and it would be difficult to enforce in a very large district (I'm in a gigantic one). For the experienced teachers who know the content like the back of their hand, lesson plans are truly just a formality - they know what will be happening and they can make adjustments as needed. Admins can definitely see if things are going right and wrong regardless
