 My mom was 40 when I was born. At the time of birth, both my dad's parents were alive, and my mom's mom was alive. Now, I'm turning 22 a week from today, and my dad's mom is the only grandparent still alive (she will be turning 84 next month).  Oh. Well my wife's district (I'm mid credential) doesn't have people write out lesson plans. They just kind of say go. So just thinking and going, "Hmmm... I think I'll try this tomorrow." is totally normal and actually encouraged.
